Can you change it so that the full post is downloaded with the feed? When I did it manually it worked fine - seems like the trick is just not to overwrite any files you've edited (like the theme). Sorry to hear that the upgrade/import was less than easy-- I've been having issues with the auto upgrade plugin from WP2.2.3> 2.5.1 and have decided to do it manually when I have time... someday... which may or may not be this month.
