Have no fear, new kids!

Allow me to indtroduce the New Students Community on the Simmons GSLIS intranet!

This has been a big project of mine since mid-way through the fall semester. This project went through some changes in structure and content, but eventually wound up with what we have here, which is almost exactly what I envisioned when I started the project. (Part of the structure/content changes involved putting this whole thing on a wiki; the wiki still exists but myself and a coworker will be overhauling it into something slightly different.)

I know it probably doesn't seem like much if you're not a GSLIS student or recent grad, but I'm really proud of this project. I hope that it will be valuable to new and incoming students as they try to figure out what the heck is going on around here. 🙂 Basically, the goal was to gather together a lot of information that is available (levels of findability vary) all over the Simmons and GSLIS intranets and organize it into one easy-to-navigate site.

This is a living, breathing, growing website, so if you have any comments or suggestions please send them to me via the webmaster's account: gslisweb at simmons dot edu.

  1. Wow, great work! I’ve only just peeked below the surface, and I’ve found information that I couldn’t find anywhere else. It was probably there the whole time, but this page brings it together. I’m not a new student, but this is quite helpful.

I’ll look through it more thoroughly later, and will let you know if I think of anything useful to add.

    Woo hoo for you!
