I have to say, I was a little disappointed by the June bag. But having looked at all of the possible things I could have received this month, there wasn’t really anything that was particularly interesting (though there were some things I would have preferred over another eyeliner). With these types of things you are bound to get a dud every so often, so for now I’ll remain subscribed and see what happens.
Skinn Olive & Enzyme Cleanser – The verdict is still out on this one. Supposedly it’s formulated to remove makeup, so I’ve made sure to try it out on days I had makeup to take off. I found that on the day I used a washcloth to remove it, all traces of makeup were gone – but I wasn’t wearing any eye makeup. I also tried it a couple of days without a wash cloth. When I was wearing basically just concealer and powder, it got it all off. When I was wearing liquid foundation (more on that soon, I switched recently) and eye makeup, it did not do so well at getting everything off, particularly the eye shadow. So, eye makeup remover is still necessary, and you’ll probably want to use a wash cloth. Anyway the cleanser itself is creamy but not super thick, smells very pleasant and vibrant (kind of like a creamsicle) and didn’t dry out my face. I’m not sure I’d buy this – I prefer to make sure that my staple toiletries are brands I can easily get at the drugstore, Target, etc. – but I like how moisturizing it felt, so it got me thinking. My skin was so dry this winter that I probably do need to consider changing my products at least slightly, and a more moisturizing cleanser in the morning couldn’t hurt. This came as a 2oz sample size.
Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray – This is one of those texturizing products for long wavy hair, so it was not exactly useful for straight hair in a pixie cut. I did try it out and it smelled nice, but I don’t think my hair looked particularly different than usual. I have a friend with long wavy hair who I think will enjoy playing with this, so I’m going to pass it on to her at some point. This was a 1.5oz sample size.
Butter Gloss by NYX in Creme Brulee – I’m not really a lip gloss kind of girl, but I tried this out and it was very comfortable to wear. It did of course come off on the glass I was drinking out of but that’s to be expected. The color is a very pale pink, almost nude, and I’m not wild about it. I might experiment with this over some of my Revlon balm stains, but since it’s the kind of thing you have to reapply all the time I don’t think it’s going to really fit in my life. This was a full size.
Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara – I don’t use mascara at all regularly – only when I’m getting fancy – so this is another thing I wasn’t particularly excited about. However this did allow me to toss the mascara I’d had around for a while, which was a free sample from a Sephora order like two years ago. (I know the guideline is that you’re supposed to chuck mascara after three months, but I’d be buying a new one every single time if I did that.) I’ll try it out sometime soon. This was also a full size.
Jesse’s Girl Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner – I got an eyeliner pencil in my April bag, and as I mentioned then, this is not a thing that I use. I made sure to review it right away, as you can indicate that you don’t use that type of product. Who knows what happens with their algorithms, but I was annoyed to receive another eyeliner so soon. I have set this aside to pass on to someone (let me know if you’re local and you want it). According to the comments, this is “exploding” on a lot of people when they open it, but those who have been able to try it seem to really like it. This was another full size.
